Egypt Int’l Quran Contest Slated for March 29

TEHRAN (IQNA) –  Egypt’s Awqaf Ministry announced the date of the country’s 26th international Quran competition next year.

 

 

According to Maydan al-Akhbar website, it will kick off in the capital Cairo on March 29, 2019.

The ministry said the competition will be organized at three levels, one for religious sciences students and graduates, one for ordinary participants who have memorized at least half of the Quran and the last one for those under the age of 12.

The maximum age limit for the contenders is 40 years, it added.

Last month, the ministry said it will give cash prizes amounting to one million pounds to winners of the country’s upcoming Quran international competition.

In 2018, representatives of 50 countries vied for the top prizes in the 25th edition of the Quranic event.

Organized with the motto of “Quds is Arab” in solidarity with the holy city of Quds (Jerusalem), the competition run from March 24 to 29.
