An Iranian delegation led by Head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman and a number of Russian clerics including Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill of Moscow participated at the two-day event.
The title of this round of interfaith dialogue was "Role of Dialogue and Cooperation among Religions in a Just and Stable Peace”.
The participants released a statement at the end of the gathering, in which they stressed the growing need for dialogue among followers of different faiths.
They also referred to common ethical values as the basis for cooperation between Islam and Orthodox Christianity.
The statement condemned any use of religious mottos as a pretext to justify unjust and violent actions
The participants also slammed the emergence of Islamophobia in the West and expressed worries about persecution of Christians in parts of the Middle East and North Africa.
They went on to stress that any attempt to establish peace in society without religion is doomed to failure.
The 11th round of interfaith dialogue between Islam and Orthodox Christianity will be held in the Iranian capital of Tehran in 2018.
