Nat’l Exam for Quran Memorizers Held in Iran

Some 398,000 memorizers of the Quran took the exam in mosques and holy sites all over the country.

They are the ones that have taken part in the national Quran memorization plan of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.

The examination in Tehran was held at Imamzadeh Qassem holy shrine and was attended by a number of Awqaf Organization officials.

It began by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by prominent Qari Amir Ali Yadegari.

Speaking at the event, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadzadeh, director of Tehran Province’s Awqaf Department, said 225 sites across the country were holding the examination on Thursday, February 16.

He said the Quran memorization plan was part of efforts aimed at training ten million memorizers of the Holy Book in the country.

According to Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadzadeh 350 Quran teachers contributed to the plan, held in Dar-ol-Quran centers and holy places.

Enhanced efforts for promoting Quran memorization in Iran came after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called for training ten million memorizers of the Quran in the country a few years ago.
