TEHRAN (IQNA) – Qatar’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has launched a month-long summer course for learning and memorizing the Holy Quran for Qatari and expatriate students at 30 centers across the country.

The move is aimed at providing opportunity to the students to utilize their free time to learn the Holy Quran.

"The courses are free of cost for Qatari and expatriate students and the Ministry will also provide free transport to the students,” an official from the Ministry said.

"The courses will help students memorize the Holy Quran, improve their reading performance, increase their educational skills, and enhance their values and good morals,” said the official.

The course will start on July 23 and will end on August 24. The registration has been going on for last few days.

Under the course, the candidates can participate in memorizing some verses of Holy Quran and revise what they had already memorized.

Parents hailed the move of the ministry and said that it would help them to make their children busy and divert their attentions from electronic devices. "I was looking for such courses to keep my children away from electronic devices at least for a few hours,” said Umm Ayman, a mother of four children hailing from Pakistan. "We used to travel to our home country in summer vacation but for some reason we will stay in Qatar this year,” she added.

The course will be held in 30 of the Ministry’s Quran Centers, which have been chosen according to geographical distribution, population density and the ability to accommodate the largest number of students during the summer.
