TEHRAN (IQNA) – An international group of Islamic choral singers started its activities in a ceremony at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala, Iraq.

According to the website of the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine, Ali Kadhim Mandhour, head of the group, said that its main objective is to promote the literary skills of poets, introduce them to the world and disseminate Islamic art.

He said that 150 poets from Iraq, the US, Lebanon, Iran and some other countries are members of the group.

The international group performs songs in 5 different languages, he added.

Mandhour also said that the members are from different age groups and different education levels.
