TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization introduced the country’s representative in the women’s section of the upcoming international Quran competition in Jordan.



Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mostafa Hosseini, head of the organization’s Quranic Affairs Center, said Maryam Shafiei will compete for Iran in the Quranic event.

Shafiei is a visually-impaired memorizer of the entire Quran from Eyvan city in the western province of Ilam.

She came second in Iran’s 40th national Quran competition in the category of memorization of the entire Quran for women.

Shafiei has also won numerous titles in other Quranic events at the regional and national levels.

Jordan’s 2018 international Quran competition is slated to be held in the Arab country’s capital, Amman, from March 19 to 24.
