TEHRAN (IQNA) – As many as 30 Iranian Quran memorizers and Qaris took part in international Quran competitions over the past two years, an official said.


Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mostafa Hosseini, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center, said they represented Iran at Quran contests in different countries in the Iranian calendar years of 1395 and 1396 (2015-2017).

Sixteen of them won first to third ranks in the competitions, he added, according to IRIB.

The Awqaf Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center is responsible for selecting and sending Quran activists to international Quranic events.

Since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the establishment of the Islamic Republic, Quranic have significantly developed in the country.

This is evident, among others, in the establishment of hundreds of Quranic centers, organization of numerous Quranic programs, including competitions, Quran recitation sessions, and educational courses, and the successful presence of Iranian Quran reciters and memorizers in international Quranic events.
