Ashura’s Educational Values Investigated in Lebanon

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A forum on the educational values of Ashura (the 10th day of Muharram which marks the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his household) was organized in Dahieh, a Shia Muslim suburb south of Beirut, Lebanon.

 

 

According to nna-leb.gov.lb, the Tuba Complex in the region hosted the program organized by Lebanon’s Association of Teachers and the Society of Imam Khomeini (RA) Cultural Centers in Lebanon.

The opening ceremony of the forum was attended by Dr. Nada Oweijane, head of the Center for Educational Research and Development, Sheikh Akram Barakat, head of the Islamic Teachings Society of Lebanon, and Prof. Ali Alauddin, president of Islamic Teachings University of Lebanon.

Sheikh Naeem Qasim, deputy secretary general of Hezbullah, and Sheikh Akram Barakat who chaired the first session of the program titled “religious and human values”, addressed the opening ceremony.

Ali Abbas Mousawi, university lecturer and researcher and Komeil Mobarak respectively delivered speeches on the educational values of Ashura and the common values of Ashura and Christianity.

Ashura’s virtues in the contemporary educational reality was the title of the second session, which was chaired by Rabi’ Nuruddin, head of the association.

How to include the virtues in educational methods was the theme of the speech presented by Nada Owaijane.

The program concluded with a statement read by Sheikh Nazar Sa’eed, director general of the Society of Imam Khomeini (RA) Cultural Centers in Lebanon.
