TEHRAN (IQNA) – Representative of Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement Representative in Iran Nasser Abu Sharif said the US’ so-called ‘deal of the century’ is a plot to split up the Middle East.

Speaking at a forum entitled “Prospects of Anti-Zionist Resistance after 71 Years of Occupation”, he said the US sees the conditions ripe for implementing its scheme given the situation in the Arab and Muslim world.

The forum was held in Tehran on Wednesday to mark the 71st anniversary of the Nakba Day (the Day of Catastrophe), the forcible eviction of Palestinians from their motherland by the Tel Aviv regime in 1948.

The Nakba Day is marked annually on May 15. It refers to the forcible expulsion of some 700,000 Palestinians from their lands in 1948 and their scattering across refugee camps in the West Bank, Gaza, and neighboring countries.

Abu Sharif said the relocation of the US embassy and recognizing Quds (Jerusalem) as the Zionist regime’s capital were two moves in line with this plot and another one is the growing expansion of illegal Zionist settlements in occupied lands.

He added that the issue of borders and the Gaza Strip are other parts of the so-called deal of century.

The axis of resistance, including Iran, that is opposed to this plot is under huge pressure now, he said.

The Palestinian envoy noted that Iran has been under pressure since Donald Trump took office and the US president’s moves like leaving the 2015 nuclear deal, re-imposing sanctions on Iran and labelling resistance movements and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as terrorists are in line with this plot.

Abu Sharif underlined that Palestinians and the resistance movements will not give in to pressure but will stand against plots and regain their land.
