TEHRAN (IQNA) – An official of Iran’s northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi said the province is fully prepared to play host to the 37th edition of the country’s International Holy Quran Competition.

Speaking at a press conference in Mashhad on Wednesday, Seyed Hassan Jafari, the political and security deputy of the province’s governor, said there have been no problems in the preparations for the contest.

Also speaking was Mehdi Qarasheikhlu, head of the organizing committee, who said more than 390 Quran activists from 60 countries have so far submitted their applications for partaking in the competition.

He added that a total of 200 will be selected and invited to attend the Quranic event.

The 37th edition of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition will be held in the holy city of Mashhad in April.

The Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the competition with the participation of Quran activists from various countries.

Quran reciters and memorizers from over 80 countries took part in the 36th edition held in Tehran in April last year.
