TEHRAN (IQNA) – Tunisia’s government allowed the resumption of religious and educational activities in the country’s mosques.

The ministry of religious affairs said the resumption of activities will be conditioned on observing the health protocols, Jawhara website reported.

Wearing face masks, observing social distancing and taking own copies of the Quran to mosques are among the measures that worshippers and those attending Quranic and other classes in mosques need to take.

Mosques in Tunisia reopened last month after three months of closure to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

Tunisia has reported coronavirus 1,199 cases so far. The country’s death toll now stands at 50.

After originating in Wuhan, China last December, COVID-19 has spread to almost all countries and regions.

The pandemic has killed more than 540,000 people worldwide, with more than 1.7 million confirmed cases.
