Bahrain’s Al-Wefaq Denounces US Sanctions on Astan Quds
In a statement posted on social media, the group described the move as moral downfall.
It highlighted the sublime status of Imam Reza (AS) and said the Astan symbolizes knowledge and spiritual growth and is a source of peace and goodness.
Earlier this month, the US Treasury Department added Astan Quds Razavi to the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List (SDN) of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Elsewhere in the statement released on Friday, Al-Wefaq censured a terrorist attack in Baghdad that killed tens of civilians and injured many more.
It underlined the need for confronting the root causes of terrorism and those sponsoring it.
At least 32 people were killed in Iraq’s first big suicide bombing for three years on Thursday.
According to Iraq’s Health Ministry, as many as 110 others were also wounded from the bombings that struck the capital’s Tayaran Square.
The first attacker drew a crowd at the bustling market in the square by claiming to feel sick, then detonating his explosives belt, the Iraqi Interior Ministry was cited by AFP as saying. As more people flocked to the scene to help the victims, a second bomber set off another blast.
The Daesh terror group has claimed responsibility for both the bombings.
