Iraqi Qari Wins Al-Kawthar TV Int’l Quran Contest
According to alkawthartv.com, ninety-six Qaris from countries like Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Indonesia, Turkey, Bahrain, Afghanistan, Germany and France took part in this year’s competition.
The final stage of the competition was held on May 13 and the Iraq Qari managed to win the top prize scoring 90 points in Tajweed principles, Lahn, Waqf, Ibtida and Sowt.
Amin Raouf from Iran was the runner-up and Abdul Minan Ahmad Fouzi from Indonesia, Abdul Rahman Tayyebi from Algeria and Mustafa Jeydi from Afghanistan won the third to fifth titles, respectively.
The phone-in Quran competition titled “Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza” (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment- Holy Quran, 78:31) begins on the first night of Ramadan every year.
It is the Muslim world’s biggest live Quran recitation competition aired by Al-Kawthar, an Arabic-language channel within the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting’s World Service.
Ahmed al-Najafi, Rafi al-Ameri, Maytham al-Tammar and Natiq al-Zarkani from Iraq, Mo’taz Aqaei, Mehdi Seif, Abbas Anjam, Mohammad Ali Dehdashti, and Amir Kasmaei from Iran, Samih al-Athamina from Jordan, Taha Abdul Wahab, Muhammad Kuhaila, Muhammad Osfour and Muhammad Jabin from Egypt, Rizwan Darwish, Arif al-Asali and Nureddin Khurshid from Syria, Adil Khalil and Mustfa al-Jafari from Lebanon, and al-Badri Bashara from Sudan were the Quran experts who served as the arbiters of this edition.
