TEHRAN (IQNA) – A member of Hezbollah resistance movement in Lebanon’s parliament said the latest US sanctions on the group will only lead to further strengthening the resistance.

Hassan Fadlallah

Speaking at a political gathering on Friday, Hassan Fadlallah said the embargoes show that the US has been defeated in the military battlefield, Al-Ahed News reported.

He added that the sanctions are part of the US enmity against the Lebanese nation and are aimed at putting pressure on the resistance after defeats in military wars.

The lawmaker said the Americans seek to deceive the public opinion by such moves.

No matter how much the pressure and the sanctions are intensified the resistance will not retreat from its confrontations against the Zionist enemy, he said.

Fadlallah added that while imposing sanctions on Hezbollah, the current and former US administration have been sending mediators for talks with the movement, but Hezbollah will not hold negotiations with any US official.

The United States on Friday imposed sanctions on three Lebanese nationals and 10 companies it said were part of an international Hezbollah network, accusing them of evading sanctions on the resistance group.

The US Treasury Department in a statement said it designated Adnan Ayad, who it said was a Hezbollah member and businessman, as well as other members of an international network of companies connected to him and his business partner, Adel Diab, who was designated by Washington on Tuesday.
