Quran Competition for Visually-Impaired Kicks off in Yemen

The 5th edition of national Quran competition for the visually impaired memorizers of the Holy Quran began on December 24 in Sana’a, Yemen.




According to alsahwa-yemen.net, the Rehabilitation Association of the Visually Impaired in Yemen has organized the competition, the preliminary stage of which was held with more than 200 participants from various provinces of the country.



From among the participants, 30 top ones were selected to compete in the memorization of 10 and 20 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran in the final stage.



Speaking at the opening ceremony of the competition, Hadi Al-Sarabi, secretary general of the association, said that many Quran memorizers can be found among the visually impaired Yemeni people such as Sheikh Mohammad Hassan Amer and Sheikh Yahya Al-Halili.



Abdul Aziz Bulhaj, director of the association, also said that the society plays a very important role to encourage this group of people to attend Quranic and other useful activities adding that works by the visually impaired have also been well received in literary circles.



 The final stage of this edition of the competition will continue for 4 days.
