“Philosophical Thoughts of Martyr Motahhari” Int’l Conference Planned

The first edition of an international conference on “philosophical thoughts of Martyr Motahhari” will be held on May 28 and 29 in the holy city of Qom.


Talking to IQNA, Ebrahim Alipur, executive secretary of the forum, said that a number of Iranian and foreign researchers and lecturers of seminaries and universities will present speeches at the program.

It will be organized by Murtada Mutahhari Foundation for Knowledge and Culture in collaboration with Supreme Council of Islamic Philosophy.

“Islamic philosophy of Allameh Tabataba’I and Martyr Motahhari”, “status of ‘The Principles of Philosophy and Method of Realism’ in contemporary philosophical thought”, “Martyr Motahhari as an influential philosopher (why and how)” and “the status of mysticism in Martyr Motahhari’s philosophical thought” are some of the general topics of the program.

The special topics of the conference will be “Theology”, “Logic and Epistemology” and “Ontology”.

The international event will be held with the participation of Ali Larijani, director general of the foundation, Gholamali Haddad Adel, member of the scientific board of Philosophy Department of Tehran University and Ayatollah Seyyed Mostafa Mohaqqeq Damad, one of the Martyr’s students.

The executive secretary of the conference added that four pre-meetings have been organized for the international program so far.

Prof. Charles Taliaferro, eminent philosopher of religion and Prof. Kelly James Clark, lecturer of philosophy at Notre Dame University have been invited by the foundation to take presence and present speeches at the conference.

Ali Mabruk from Egypt and Prof. Gwen Griffith-Dickson from London will be among the foreign guests of the program.

The Center for Islamic Disseminations in the holy of Qom will host the conference from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time.
