TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 27th Quran and Etrat Festival of Iran’s Health Ministry concluded in a ceremony on Tuesday.

The Tehran University of Medical Sciences hosted the event, in which winners of the festival’s competitions in different categories were named and awarded.

It was attended by head of Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s Office in Universities Hojat-ol-Islam Mostafa Rostami, Health Minister Bahram Einollahi, and Culture Ministry’s Quran and Etrat Deputy Ali Reza Moaf, among others.

Hojat-ol-Islam Rostami in an addressed hailed the growth of Quranic and religious activities in Iran’s universities and academic centers, stressing the need to honor those who organize and take part in such programs.

He also said that the more one gets acquainted with the Holy Quran, the more doors of knowledge and wisdom open to him.

Moaf also addressed the ceremony, saying students and professors at medical sciences universities have received Quranic festivals and activities very warmly in recent years.

This both offers an opportunity and doubles the responsibilities of officials at the culture ministry, health ministry and other government bodies to do more and have better planning to meet the needs of the academic community for Quranic activities, he added.

Later at the ceremony, Javad Baqeri Bolandi, head of the Quran and Etrat Center of the health ministry, presented a report on the organization of the festival, saying it included competitions in 53 categories that began last year.

He added that more than 70,000 contenders competed in different stages in three sections for professors, students and staff.

Quran recitation, memorization, translation, and interpretation, Quranic concepts, Nah al-Balagha, Sahifeh Sajjadiyeh, and Seerahs of the Infallibles (AS) were among the categories of the competitions, he noted.

According to the official, 350 top contestants were present at the closing ceremony to receive their awards.
