IQNA – A Libyan calligrapher has completed and unveiled his handwritten Quran that is set to be published and distributed.

Al-Sharef Aqrira Ahmid unveiled the Mushaf recently in a Monday ceremony in Tripoli, Al-Ahram reported on Tuesday.

In a press interview, Ahmid shared that he had harbored a dream of writing the Quran since his early years. This aspiration, he said, was like a persistent call that urged him to immerse himself in the Quran.

Ahmid embarked on the journey of transcribing the Quran after six months of planning and preparation. He sought guidance from esteemed scholars and gathered insights during his visit to the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran, Saudi Arabia.

Ahmid then crafted the Mushaf in four distinct parts, culminating in a beautifully designed manuscript. The completed work was then sent for printing.

He emphasized the importance of sponsorship in realizing such a project, expressing gratitude for the support he received, particularly from those who wished to see a unique Mushaf come to life.

However, the journey was not without challenges. Ahmid recounted the difficulties he faced due to internal problems in Libya, including frequent power outages. The societal norms and customs of Libya also posed challenges, as did the need for ample time to undertake such a large-scale project. Consequently, Ahmid chose to complete his work in Turkey.

Despite these hurdles, Ahmid remained committed to his roots, naming his creation the “Libyan Mushaf”.
