TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Center for Training Quran Teachers has held 150 teachers training courses since its establishment.

Affiliated to Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, the center has trained 5000 Quran teachers so far, Fars news agency reported.

It came following the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei’s emphasis on the need for training 10 million memorizers of the Holy Quran in the country.

It was founded in 2012 in the holy city of Qom, central Iran, with the aim of identifying talented individuals and training them as qualified teachers of the Quran.

According to Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Kazem Mousavi, an official with the Awqaf Organization, the courses are free of charge for the participants.

He says those interested in taking the courses should be memorizers of at least five Juzes (parts) of the Quran and have a diploma or higher degree.
