Oman Will Never Normalize Ties with Israel, FM Says
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi ruled out normalization of relations with the Zionist regime of Israel.
Speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat, Al Busaidi said Oman will not be the third Persian Gulf country to normalize ties with Israel.
He strongly rejected rumors that his country will follow on the footsteps of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
“We will never be the third (Persian) Gulf country to make concessions with Israel and we defend the legitimate rights of Palestinians. We also respect the sovereign decisions of states, just as we expect others to respect our sovereign decisions.”
The Omani foreign minister also said the Muscat believes in a comprehensive, fair and permanent solution for the region.
His interview with Asharq Al-Awsat comes ahead of an official visit to Saudi Arabia by Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarik.
