The Mustafa Badawi and Kamal Barbari centers, affiliated to Al-Azhar Quranic Institute hosted the ceremony, Al-Osbu website reported.

Kamal Barbari Hassan, the director of the Barbari Quran center, said the event was held ahead of the auspicious occasion of the Milad un-Nabi, the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) birthday.

Some of the kids have learned the entire Quran by heart, while others have memorized half or one-fourth of the Holy Book, he noted.

Barbari added that a number of the children have also received the permit for recitation of the Quran.

The ceremony included Tawasheeh (religious singing) performances by the children and giving awards to the memorizers for their accomplishment.

Egypt is a country in North Africa with a population of around 100 million.

Muslims account for around 90 percent of the country’s total population.

Quranic activities, including recitation and memorization of the Holy Book are very common in the Muslim-majority Arab country.
