According to the Middle East News, the Supreme Judiciary Council of Iraq announced the issuing of the verdict for the terrorist element.
The person, whose name has not been disclosed, was the Daesh treasurer and was known as emir of Baitulmal (House of money, responsible for the administration of taxes).
He is said to have taken part in several of the group’s terrorist operations against Iraqi security forces.
The verdict has been issued based on article 4 of the Arab country’s counter-terrorism law.
Iraq declared victory over Daesh in December 2017 after a three-year counter-terrorism military campaign.
The terror outfit’s remnants, though, keep staging sporadic attacks across Iraq, attempting to regroup and unleash a new era of violence.
