Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei attended the rituals, according to the website of the Leader’s office.
They will be held at the Hosseiniyeh for a few nights.
Unlike the past two years in which the coronavirus pandemic did not allow the presence of people, this year a limited number of mourners, including families of martyrs, take part in the programs as well.
Saturday’s ceremony began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by renowned Iranian qari Hossein Fardi and then senior cleric Hojat-ol-Islam Kazem Sediqi delivered a speech.
He elaborated on the lofty spiritual status and virtues of Hazrat Zahra (SA), the beloved daughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The mourning ceremony also included elegy recitations by Mohammad Reza Taheri.
Shia Muslims and others in different parts of the world hold ceremonies every year on the first days of the month of Jumada al-Thani in the lunar Hijri calendar to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Zahra (SA).
