Winners of the contest in the men and women sections were awarded at the ceremony, held in Port Said with the participation of a number of religious and political officials.
The governor of Port Said in an address hailed the successful organization of the competition, saying all the participants in the Quranic event are in fact winners.
He also lauded the members of the panel of judges and announced the names of winners in the five categories, Egypt Today reported.
The competition had started in Port Said on Friday, according to the paper.
Sixty-five contenders from different countries, including Egypt, Pakistan, Algeria, Tunisia, Sudan, Palestine, Jordan, Nigeria, Kenya, Canada, Lebanon, Morocco, the US, Uganda, Indonesia, Ethiopia and Yemen took part in the contest.
The categories included memorization of the Quran for youths, Quran recitation, Quran memorization for women, Ibtihal and Tawasheeh.
There was also the category of Quran memorization for imams of mosques.
