Int’l Forum to Discuss Thoughts, Views of Late Ayatollah Taskhiri

TEHRAN (IQNA) – An international virtual forum is planned to be held to discuss the life, views and thoughts of late Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri.

Part of a series dubbed “Harbingers of Peace and Islamic Unity”, the forum is slated for Wednesday morning, May 10.

It will be organized by the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) in cooperation with the Islamic Development Organization’s Humanities and Cultural Studies Research Center.

WFPIST Secretary General Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari, Syrian Awqaf Minister Mohammed Abdul Sattar, Chairman of Russia’s Council of Muftis and Spiritual Administration of Muslims Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, and custodian of Hazrat Abdul Azim Hassani (AS) holy shrine Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Ali Qazi Askar, will be among the figures who will address the forum.

Ayatollah Taskhiri died of a heart attack in August 2020 at the age of 76.

A renowned religious figure in the Muslim world, Ayatollah Taskhiri also served as head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and advisor to the Leader on Muslim world affairs.

During the time he served as secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, he made great efforts towards reinforcing unity among Muslims.

He wrote and translated tens of books on Islam and the Muslim world.
