WASHINGTON, DC (IQNA) – Kansas students find inspiration in Muslim women stories in an event at Wichita State University last week.

raising awareness about Muslim women

The Muslim Student Association at Wichita State University organized an event on October 5 to educate students on the role and importance of women in Islam, The Sun Flower reported.

The event featured a guest speaker from the Qalam Institute, who discussed the lives of inspiring women, the rights of women in Islam, the value of women's education, and the comparison between modern feminism and Islamic teachings.

The speaker, Ustadha Fatima Lette, an instructor at the Qalam Institute, said that Muslim women often face Islamophobia and discrimination, and that there are many misconceptions about their status and rights in Islam.

She said that Islam encourages and emphasizes women's education and knowledge-seeking, contrary to what some people may think.

The event ended with a question-and-answer session, where students asked about various topics related to being a Muslim woman in today's society, such as wearing hijab, dealing with co-ed spaces, and finding a spouse.
